About Guáro

Guáro is one of the white towns of Andalusia, and mainly lives from the olive and almond industry.

Located in the Sierra de las Nieves, a Unesco protected area, and a bit hidden from the main roads, mass tourism has not yet discovered this just lovely town, which results in a still very, very relaxed and authentic feel and atmosphere.

There are 4 bars, to have a drink, tapas or simple meals, inside or outside, and 1 more trendy place for cocktails.

There are 4 tiny 'supermarkets', a bakery, and a pharmacist, so you never have to leave town.

¡Luna Mora!

O yes, the Festival of Luna Mora. Dedicated to Moorish tradition, this festival takes place the first 2 weekends of September. The whole town is lit by candles only (10.000 candles) and it is all about traditional arts, crafts, flamenco concerts, and much more.

Mind: on these evenings the town is literally packed. Traffic jams of 10 kms all around town, and our house is always booked already a year in advance.

Welcome to Guáro!

A small white town of 2000 inhabitants, at only 25 km from Marbella... yet in the heart of the real Andalusia.

Untouched by mass tourism, Guáro is still pleasantly authentic. Truly perfect for a relaxed Andalusian holiday.

What to do or see in Guáro?

Just fantastic for walks or long hikings. Within 10 minutes walking from the house you are in the hills. At 5 km you have the rio grande, for a dip, as well as the 'Barranco Blanco', which is a tiny river, very hidden, unspoilt and very nice. The "ventas" are at 5 kms. Here you can have very good food from 8€ for the full menu. In a range of 15 kms you have the white towns of Monda, Alozaina and Tolox with its roman baths. The fabulous city of Ronda (a small Granada) is at 45 kms.

And for the rest... have a tapa. Stroll. A tea. Relax. Read. Go to one of the tiny bars. And don't forget the siesta!
