TANGIER IS HIP

Well, it was never Un-Hip.

As a matter of fact, it has been hip since the 1970's.

But now it is Officially hip.

Stamped off and approven by all authorities.

RESERVOIR OF CREATIVITY AND STRENGHT

The population of Morocco is slowly climbing to the 34 million, of who a staggering 31% are under the age of 14.

All born and raised in an economy in troubles, the reservoir of survival techniques, strength and creativity is a vast one.

In Tangier, add the fact that youngsters have always almost been able to touch Europe, at least see or feel it from a near distance... and in many occasions have started to learn many languages from an early age on.

This has resulted in an unparalleled eagerness, to also be able to travel, to also have what these tourists have, to compete and modernize.

Morocco will not have to drill for resources.

THE CRAFTSMANSHIP

It is also because of the never ending economic problems that Morocco has safeguarded something that has become truly rare: True craftsmanship.

Craftsmanship that has been handed over from generation to generation... where does it still exist?

In Morocco it does. In the furniture or clothing ateliers of Fes and Meknes, the hidden alleys of Marrakech or Rabat, people have been and keep developing talents right up their fingertips.

There will be a moment that true authenticity or handmade products will become spectacularly popular... and if that happens, Morocco, again, will become a supplier for the world.

ARAB DECO

Already in furniture and decoration Morocco is competing with the Big Players, such as IKEA.

Apart from the Swedish giant there must be only two decoration styles that have really conquered the world; the Japanese and the Moroccan style.

Also Arabic beats have been slowly sneeking into popular music over the past 10 years, from loungy Buddha Bar to Tektonic dance.

Fashion is still a domain to conquer, nowhere near the reputation of Italy or even the Antwerp style, but with Morocco's outstanding reputation for its feel for fabrics and colours, catwalks in Morocco might become a common sight at one point in the future.

"10 million tourists by 2010" might not happen, with the financial crisis suddenly rearing its head, but our predictions are that there will only be a delay...

Morocco is already penetrating the houses of tourists.

"Ma vieille Europe... t'es demodé... t'es pas vraiment rock".
